Announces Retirement from Full-Time Practice
After thirty –five years of providing a quality Professional
Eye Service to the Local Community, I have decided to take things a little
easier and retire from full-time practice.
Accordingly, the practice at 15
Uxbridge Road W12 8LH
will close completely on 1st
December 2006.
However, as I am not quite ready
to be put out to grass, I shall open a part-time, Appointment Only practice at
my home address in Watford in the New Year.

During my thirty-five year stint
at Shepherds Bush, I have made very many good friends and acquaintances, to
whom I shall be very sorry to say ‘goodbye’.
I must have peered into some 80,000 eyes during that time, corrected
most of them and saved several of them from going blind. I’ve enjoyed my time
and know that I’ve benefited from meeting my patients.
I’m also available to provide a locum
service for other like-minded
independent optometrists who would like and benefit from a day off here and
there, but who are hesitant about using a locum in case they don’t fit into
their practice. (I was exactly the same; scared to employ someone who might
show my inadequacies up to my patients). I’m old-fashioned in my outlook; still
believe the patient is right (usually), work with trial frame and lenses, don’t
fit contact lenses at all, don’t believe in over-selling, must be fairly good
at what I do otherwise I wouldn’t have stayed in business so long. I’m willing
to drive up to an hour north or west of Watford, and I’m not looking for stupid
daily rates of pay. Talk to me and try me. You might just like me, and feel
secure enough to have that weekend away, or Bahamian Cruise without having to
shut the practice.
